Amelie McCandless

PORTRAIT

Amelie McCandless is a free and authentic artist whose folk music invites listeners to journey toward poetic and intimate horizons. Her world is built around simplicity and emotion: on stage, she accompanies herself on guitar or banjo, and sometimes with musicians such as a cellist/violinist and a double bassist, to create a rootsy, stripped-back sound that reflects the depth of her compositions.

ARTISTIC JOURNEY

Since her debut, Amelie has loved telling unique stories through her songs. Her new album, scheduled for release in 2023, features Chicago May, a charismatic woman who inspires her to explore powerful life stories. For the first time, she has taken on the challenge of singing entirely in French, giving her folk music an intimate and personal dimension.

Her work is not limited to original compositions: Amelie also performs covers, putting her personal touch on well-known songs and breathing new life into them. Her latest music video, “Les Corbeaux,” released seven months ago, showcases her sensitivity and ability to create poignant atmospheres, ranging from softness to intensity. Amelie knows how to captivate her audience during live performances. On September 12, she had the pleasure of kicking off the Itinéraires Festival as the opening act for Les Innocents, delivering a memorable and pitch-perfect performance.
