DUO
Vladimir Cauchemar, whose real name is Guillaume Brière, is an electronic music artist, composer, and producer born in Reims.
He began his career exploring electronic music and the sounds of rock and drum and bass in the 1990s with Benjamin Lebeau. The duo then formed a band called Time Stretchers, which was later renamed The Film. Together, they produced remixes and contributed to the development of various tracks, including those for the Zimpala collective.
In 2005, The Film released their first album, featuring tracks such as “Can You Touch Me,” which was used for the FIFA game and the Peaugeot 407 commercial. Following this, the band participated in various festivals, sometimes internationally, while pursuing the evolution of their music. It was in 2008 that the band truly abandoned their rock sonorities to embrace synthpop with the band The Shoes. The Shoes is an electropop group formed in 2007 but released their first album in Japan in 2009: “Scandal.”
But it was in 2011 that the group achieved real success with the album “Crack My Bones,” including the single “Time to Dance,” accompanied by a music video featuring Jake Gyllenhaal and FKA Twigs.
The group finally ended their collaboration after the release of their last album, “Chemicals,” in 2015. Comprising 10 tracks, it established itself as a confirmation and the end of an era.
SOLO
Following this, Guillaume Brière collaborated solo with various rap artists, such as Romeo Elvis, on the album “Jeanine,” while preparing his return to the spotlight under a completely new identity. Vladimir Cauchemar first appeared in public view in 2018, wearing a white skull mask with his debut single, “Aulos,” which was a huge success. Now signed to Lokomotiv Sound, the label introduced him as a rival of Apollo, who had lost a duel and was now seeking revenge.
This was followed by numerous collaborations, much appreciated by fans, with other rappers such as Caballero, JeanJass, and Vald.
Vladimir Cauchemar continues to produce numerous albums and singles with great success today. The latest? Pandemonium Reloaded, which is the reissue of the rap album of the same name, revisited by Vladimir Cauchemar for the occasion.
